A Senior Health Economist in our Health Analytics Practice Area, Matt has over a decade of experience working with government agencies and private health insurers, both within the US and globally, to improve health system performance. He provides strategic and analytic guidance to clients that enables them to make evidence-based decisions for improving healthcare coverage and affordability. Matt's work at BerryDunn focuses on designing and evaluating healthcare financing policies. Matt synthesizes best practices and distills complex, quantitative evidence in ways that help stakeholders make strategic decisions around payment systems, health insurance markets, pricing models, and benefit design. A member of the BerryDunn Recovery Advisory Team, Matt helps clients understand the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare costs and enhance value-based payment systems in response to the outbreak.
In Matt's previous role at a consulting firm, he oversaw several CMS/CMMI independent evaluations and state-wide policy initiatives, notably payment demonstrations and cost benchmarking initiatives. He also managed a multi-million dollar portfolio to redesign national health insurance agencies and payment systems across Asia. Matt has held additional leadership positions at a global multilateral organization and an academic institution. His work entailed evaluating state Medicaid managed care programs and identifying stabilization techniques across European insurance markets to inform healthcare legislation in the US.
