BerryDunn has been recognized as one of The Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms™ in the US by Construction Executive magazine. This is the second year BerryDunn has been recognized. Construction Executive (CE) is the leading trade magazine about the business of construction. This top-50 honor is based on a number of factors, including firm revenue and depth of expertise. It reflects BerryDunn’s leadership in the construction industry, as well the size and complexity of the firm’s clients.
The special top-50 issue of CE features an “Executive Insights” analysis and article in which BerryDunn Principal Linda Roberts addresses the need continually reassess subcontractors’ ability to take on more work and perform.
“Strong historical performance and balance sheets do not necessarily reflect current fiscal status or management bench strength or risk,” said Roberts. “It is crucial that estimators and project managers ensure solicited subcontractors are currently prequalified and approved by management prior to bidding or contract award.”
BerryDunn is the only New England firm to make the top-50 list. To determine the ranking, CE surveyed hundreds of US accounting firms with a construction practice. Data collected included: 1) fiscal 2019 revenues from construction practice; 2) number of CPAs in the construction practice; 3) percentage of firm’s total revenues from construction practice; 4) number of construction clients in fiscal 2019; 5) number of office locations with a construction accounting practice; 6) number of employees with the CCIFP certification; and 7) year a construction accounting practice was established. The ranking was determined by an algorithm that weighted these factors in descending order of importance.

Linda Roberts, Principal, leads the firm’s construction practice area—one of the few women leaders in construction public accounting. A speaker and thought leader on audit, review, accounting, and consulting services, Roberts shares knowledge gained from experiences with clients, serving as Past President of the Maine Chapter of CFMA, as a board member of the NH Chapter of CFMA and as a member of both National CFMA’s and CICPAC’s Emerging Issues Committees.
