09.10.26

BerryDunn announced that David Stone has been appointed to the inaugural Board of Directors of the New England Society of CPAs (NECPAs). Stone, a Senior Manager in BerryDunn’s Financial Services Practice Group, will serve as Vice-Chair, representing Maine on the board of the region’s premier professional organization.

NECPAs launched on July 1, 2026, following a merger of the state CPA societies of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. By combining resources and expertise across the region, NECPAs offers its 14,700 members enhanced advocacy, expanded learning opportunities and peer networks, stronger thought leadership, and greater influence on issues affecting the profession.

“I’m pleased to have this opportunity to help build a more resilient, sustainable future for the accounting profession,” said Stone. “I look forward to working closely with leaders throughout New England as we adapt to shifts in technology, regulation, workforce development, and other changes impacting the financial landscape.”

“David Stone is an exceptional leader at BerryDunn, and we are proud that he’s been selected to serve as Vice-Chair,” said Rob Smalley, Principal and Financial Services Practice Group Leader. “David will bring a deep level of experience, technical expertise, and specialized knowledge to the board.”

Stone is a recipient of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Elijah Watt Sells Award and a graduate of the AICPA Leadership Academy. He was also named to the Forbes 2026 list of America’s Best-In-State CPAs
