Agency seeks to modernize legacy systems through a successful procurement

Challenge

The Arizona Department of Economic Security (ADES) needed to update three legacy mainframe IT systems to operate its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Program, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and childcare programs. It had become increasingly difficult to maintain, improve, and add functionality to the current systems and ADES was experiencing challenges finding technical staff with the skills to support the system.

Solution

BerryDunn’s government consultants performed a feasibility study to determine the best approach to modernizing the legacy systems and achieving the agency’s goals.

Outcomes

BerryDunn’s feasibility study provided ADES with clarity and an understanding of the options for modernizing its legacy systems. We provided ADES with the costs and benefits of each option and insights into where they could expect the greatest potential value in relation to costs. We developed a comprehensive RFP that reflected their requirements and desires, positioning ADES to successfully procure a solution aligned with their vision and goals.
