"Whether you believe you can, or whether you believe you can't, you're absolutely right."

-Henry Ford

BerryDunn is a different kind of firm because its founders set out to make it so.

In 1974, Burch Dunn, Bob Berry, and Mike McNeil founded a firm that combined the skills gleaned from their years in large firms with the client focus and entrepreneurial spirit of a new firm. The firm has its roots in Maine and, consistent with the values of the founders, is committed to the communities where we live and work.

In 1983, the Bangor office of Chester M. Kearney & Company added Larry Parker’s name to the masthead.

Fast forward: The legacy lives on.

Over 40 years later, BerryDunn remains true to its founding spirit and values through the commitment to working closely with each client and to supporting our communities through volunteerism, financial support, and environmental stewardship.

The communities have recognized our founders in many ways over time:

  • Burch Dunn’s extraordinary commitment to his local community was recognized posthumously when one of the region’s most innovative elementary schools was named in his honor.

  • The Maine Health Care Association created the Mike McNeil Scholarship Fund to honor Mike McNeil and to promote careers in long-term care “through scholarships for individuals affiliated with Maine’s long-term care facilities.” The fund symbolizes Mike’s commitment to community service and professional development.

BerryDunn put down strong Maine roots as a progressive, entrepreneurial firm of certified public accountants and business consultants.
